Calibration Steps for Rockwell Hardness Tester

 

Calibration of Rockwell hardness tester is an important part to ensure the accuracy of test results. The following are the steps and methods for calibration:

 

1. Preparation: Select a suitable standard block for calibration according to the requirements of the regulations to ensure that its quality level meets the device level.

 

2. Fix the standard block to the test frame and adjust the height of the test frame to make it horizontal.

 

3. Select an indenter of appropriate specifications and place the indenter on the standard block. Then use the initial handle to fine-tune the position of the indenter so that the gap between it and the standard block is about 2.5 mm.

 

4. Drive the indenter down by rotating the handle and contact it with the standard block, and record the scale value where the indenter pointer is at this time.

 

5. Replace the indenter of different specifications and repeat the above steps.

 

6. Compare the calibration value with the hardness value provided by the standard block, calculate the difference, and make corresponding corrections to the reading.

 

7. If the measurement is inaccurate, recalibration is required until the test result meets the standard specification requirements.

 

8. After calibration, clean the Rockwell hardness tester and check it to ensure that all parts are in good condition for the next use.

 

It is important to note that when calibrating and using the Rockwell hardness tester, you need to follow the corresponding specifications and safe operating procedures. If calibration is not possible, it is recommended to find a professional technician to handle it.
