Placement of Samples During Salt Spray Test
The salt spray test chamber uses a salt solution or acidic salt solution to accelerate the corrosion of materials or products under a certain temperature and relative humidity, simulating the damage materials or products would experience over a certain period.
The equipment can be used to evaluate the resistance of materials and their protective coatings to salt spray corrosion, compare the quality of similar protective coating processes, and assess the salt spray corrosion resistance of certain products.
The equipment can achieve any temperature point between room temperature and 55°C within the test workspace and maintain it constantly.
Within a chamber of specified volume, materials or products are subjected to a salt spray corrosion test under constant temperature and relative humidity.
When conducting experiments with iqualitrol salt spray test chamber, how should the test samples be placed in the chamber to make the test more effective?
Sample placement method:
1. Place the samples inside the salt spray test chamber with the tested surface facing upwards, allowing the salt spray to settle freely on the surface without direct spraying on it.
2. Samples should generally be laid flat. In the salt spray test chamber, the tested surface should be at an angle of 15° to 30° relative to the vertical, preferably around 20°. Irregular samples (such as whole workpieces) should also try to conform to this guideline.
3. Samples can be placed on different horizontal planes within the chamber, but they must not touch the chamber or each other.
The distance between samples should not interfere with the free deposition of salt spray on the tested surfaces, and droplets on one sample must not fall on another.
For new inspections or tests with a total test period exceeding 96 hours, sample repositioning is allowed.
4. Sample holders can be made of glass, plastic, or other non-metallic materials. Materials used for suspending samples must not be metal and should use synthetic fibers, cotton, or other insulating materials.
