Optical terminology for Profile Projectors
The profile projector uses non-contact measurement method. It can observe tiny parts and easily deformed parts that are difficult to detect with contact measurement. It can also detect the contour size and surface shape of various complex workpieces, such as stampings, cams, threads, gears, forming milling cutters and other tools, cutters and parts.
The difference is that the projector does not require an eyepiece, which can reduce the operator's fatigue compared to a microscope. The projection screen with a large field of view can also be used for multiple people to observe at the same time.
Obverse and Reverse images
Obverse image: the image projected on the screen is in the same direction as the object on the workbench.
Reverse image: When the image moves relative to the object on the workbench (as shown in the figure below), the image is reversed from top to bottom and from left to right, also called an inverted image.
